Alliance for Rural Community Health (ARCH) was founded in 1998 by community health center organizations in Mendocino County. The group came together to seek collaborative ways of addressing community health care issues in a cost-effective and efficient manner. By forming ARCH, the clinics joined a trend that is now widespread. In forming ARCH, these health centers committed to work together to facilitate resource development, concentrate and strengthen advocacy efforts, and share resources.

The mission of ARCH, to improve the health of our communities by strengthening and supporting the efforts of our members to provide access to quality health care for all, provides the framework for all ARCH activities. Current activities include:

• Clinical Program Development
  ARCH provides research and programming for clinical quality improvement initiatives, such as the Diabetes Collaborative and a statewide initiative known as Accelerating Quality Improvement through Collaboration.

• Resource Development
  ARCH researches and develops program proposals in response to funding opportunities for Network and member health centers.

• Policy and Advocacy
  ARCH coordinates communication with key legislative representatives on behalf of health centers and the Network. Staff also facilitates the exchange of information with policy makers and decision leaders at the local, state and federal levels.
